Out with the old, in with the new : How I Style Classic Dr. Martens!

Welcome everyone!! To start off the new year of 2014 and my new blog, I thought it would be perfect to style my favorite shoes of 2013 with new clothes I just bought! (I apologize in advance from the poor camera work! It will get better I promise!!)

Dr. Martens: http://www.urbanoutfitters.com/urban/catalog/productdetail.jsp?id=23154354
Ribbon Laces: http://www.dmusastore.com/p-4725-ribbon-lace-8-10-eye-black-ea.aspx
** Dr. Martens are easy to break in if you start wearing fuzzy socks from the very beginning! I wore them all the time this year- to class, shopping, and even business casual presentations :P I put the ribbon laces on them to make them more cute and girly! They have several other lace choices too!

Several Shades of Blue
Baby Blue Sweater:
Free People. http://www.freepeople.com/sale-all-sale/winters-sparkle-pullover/
Navy Skirt: Forever 21.
Navy Ribbon Socks: Abercrombie & Fitch.
Dark Blue Tank Top: Hollister.
** I have been seeing many completely blue outfits recently and I wanted to create one after I buying this beautiful off- the- shoulder sweater from Free People :) It kind of reminds me of the anime princesses.

Maison Jules. (still in- stores at Macy's)
Graphic Muscle Tank: Urban Outfitters.
Moto Skirt: Free People. http://www.freepeople.com/moto-slub-knit-mini-skirt/
Black Opaque Tights:
Hue from Macy's.
** This outfit is completely monochrome, but I played around with shapes and textures. I love this asymmetrical moto-skirt because it is not so body- hugging that all my chub bursts out, but it still gives a sleek a- line look. This cardigan is also really fun because it has a long chiffon ruffle (good because it covers my butt!). Most sweaters usually have a short peplum or ruffle! Maison Jules is a new, French-inspired Macy's original clothing line, so you should check it out!
Pink, Pearls, & Pompoms
Pink Top:
Anthropologie (sale).
Leggings: American Apparel. http://store.americanapparel.net/cotton-spandex-jersey-legging_8328
Purse: Kate Spade: Cedar Street Maise. http://www.katespade.com/cedar-street-maise/PXRU4471,en_US,pd.html?dwvar_PXRU4471_color=486&dwvar_PXRU4471_size=UNS&cgid=ks-handbags-cross-body#start=2&cgid=ks-handbags-cross-body
Pompom: Samantha Thavasa.

** When you're are chubby, it is usually better to stick to wearing darker colors. Although that statement is true, it puts me in a pickle because I love pink and other pastel colors.  To solve this dilemma, I wore black in my widest areas (my thighs) and wore a pink sweater! Also, this sweater is a bit oversized while still being tailored, so I gives an illusion that my arms are thinner than they actually are! ;)

Accessories that I wore in these outfits!
Just In One. https://www.facebook.com/justinoneshop
Purple Bobby Pin: Just In One.
Hair Bow: American Apparel. http://store.americanapparel.net/bow-hair-clip_rsa0509
Nail polishes: Pink from The Face Shop. Glitter in the Air by Deborah Lippmann.
Pink Sapphire Earrings: Tiffany & Co.
Diamond Earrings: Lord & Taylor.

Well that concludes my very first post! I hope you enjoyed reading it :) Btw, I will do many more other way to style Dr. Martens in the future don't worry! - Lauren <3
